Reason #4 – Honor King with Action!
Sisters,
I know it seems like our government is a total dumpster fire right now and that the situation is hopeless. The dark side wants us to believe that we can do nothing, and they are wrong. I would be lying to you if I didn’t say things are bad. However, we can all honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by raising our voices demanding that the United States Senate take action to protect our democracy. The U.S. Senate MUST pass The Freedom to Vote Act and The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
I have written about the tactics used by the dark side to limit the ability of millions of folks to vote. They mean serious business and are expanding their efforts using conservative judges as instruments of suppression. The Freedom to Vote Act and The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act contain protections against the shenanigans of the dark side.
THESE TWO BILLS MUST BE PASSED TO PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY!
I’m sorry for the digital yelling, but I need you to hear me and understand how serious this situation is for ALL Americans.
We can out-organize the dark side, but we must start NOW! On this King Day, WE CAN implores you to call your two U.S. Senators and let them know that you expect them to protect the vote.
Please click here to send a short letter to your U.S. Senators asking for their support to protect the vote. We need BOTH LAWS to counter the multitude of actions at the state level designed to suppress the vote.
I sincerely hope you enjoy some time off and time on (if you can volunteer and serve in your community). Pandemic fatigue is real, which makes radical self-care all the more critical for all of us!
In solidarity,
WE CAN President/Founder
