Elections Have Consequences
Sisters,
Shockingly, some races in the upcoming elections are close. There are stark differences between candidates running for Governor and the U.S. Senate in Georgia, and U.S. Senate races in Arizona, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Florida, and other so-called battleground states.
I’m shocked these races are so close because some candidates’ positions are opposite of what most voters in those states (and nationally) want for our country. I hope you are as upset as I am that there are forces at work trying to shove their often racist, sexist, misogynistic, xenophobic, and other intolerable ideologies on everyone.
We have CLEAR choices to make in the voting booth and an absolute responsibility to make the best possible choices for ourselves, our families, our communities, and our country.
Democracy is literally hanging in the balance, and it is up to us to save it.
Today’s post will be very short so that you have time to study your ballot and think carefully about who should receive your vote of confidence. Learn more about the candidates on this ballot look up tool and remember that voting carefully is not a test you can afford to fail. We are all counting on YOU to make the right decisions.
If you believe in a woman’s right to choose what happens to her body and that access to contraception must always be available to anyone who seeks it, then search for the candidates who support your belief.
If you believe that in America, EVERYONE eligible to vote should have complete access to the ballot and that all voter suppression techniques should be killed at the root, then search for the candidates who support your belief.
If you believe that income inequality MUST be dismantled NOW because you are sick and tired of work that doesn’t pay enough to care for yourself and your family and save for today and the future, then search for the candidate who supports your belief.
If you believe it is time to end America’s love affair with racism and it is time to teach our nation’s history honestly because the only way to avoid repeating history is to understand it, then search for the candidates who support your belief.
Elections have consequences, and it is time for each of us to take a stand and vote for the candidates and outcomes we need.
In solidarity,
Stephanie
