We MUST Stop the SAVE Act — Here’s Who It Hurts!

Sisters,
Here we are, week two of a war no one wanted or thought necessary — one that is making our country less safe with every ultimatum and bomb dropped. We may not be able to stop it today, but there is one fight we CAN win, and we MUST. Because if we lose this one, we lose our voice in November.
We MUST STOP the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act or the “SAVE America Act.”
Yes, we thought this battle was behind us. But desperate people hell-bent on holding onto power are back — and this time, they’re coming for your right to vote. The SAVE America Act just passed the House and is now headed to the Senate. Here’s who it would hurt most:
- Married women & name-changers — If you took your spouse’s last name, your birth certificate probably doesn’t match your legal name. That could disqualify up to 69 million women from using it to prove citizenship — even women who’ve been voting for decades.
- Low-income Americans — Most of us don’t have a passport, and getting one costs money. Only 1 in 5 people earning under $50,000 a year have one — meaning this law could effectively make voting more expensive for the people who can least afford it.
- Rural voters — Picture driving hours just to hand-deliver paperwork to register to vote. That’s exactly what this bill would require of the 60+ million Americans living in rural areas.
- Voters of color & young voters — Younger voters and voters of color are less likely to have a passport or easy access to a birth certificate — meaning they’d be hit hardest by these new requirements.
- Transgender voters — Trans people already face higher poverty rates and are finding it increasingly hard to get government IDs that match their name and gender. These new hurdles make an already steep climb even steeper.
- Pretty much everyone who registers online or by mail — That’s most of us, Sisters. Only 6% of voters currently register in person. This bill would force the vast majority of Americans to completely change how they sign up to vote.

The bottom line? Between 21 million and 100 million Americans could face new barriers to voting — all to solve a problem that barely exists in the first place.
If the SAVE America Act passes, we will be thrown back into a pre-Voting Rights Era — and MILLIONS of eligible voters will be silenced.
The U.S. Senate is the only thing standing between us and this dangerous law. Call your Senators today. Call tomorrow. Call the day after that. Tell them in no uncertain terms: making it too hard for too many eligible voters to vote is not acceptable — not now, not ever.

In solidarity, Dr. Stephanie, WE CAN Founder
