Start the Year Standing Up for Peace and Our Power

Happy New Year, Dear Sisters!
If you’re entering this year feeling tired, frustrated, and wondering how much more we’re supposed to take—you’re not alone. Many of us are exhausted by the constant attacks on our rights, our votes, our pocketbooks, our bodies, and our ability to live safely and freely. And yet, here we are again, because the work is far from over.
What’s happening in our country right now is deeply connected to what’s happening beyond our borders. Decisions made in Washington don’t just affect us at home—they shape lives around the world and come right back to impact our communities.
That’s why we are deeply concerned about the growing push toward military action against Venezuela.
Let’s be clear: an invasion does not make anyone safer. It destabilizes an entire region, creates humanitarian crises, and weakens the United States’ position in global politics. It damages our credibility, strains relationships with allies, and fuels global instability. And we’ve seen this movie before—endless conflict with devastating consequences.
Here’s what often gets left out: war costs money. A lot of it. Every dollar spent on military escalation is a dollar not spent on healthcare, housing, education, childcare, or economic security in our country. Women—especially women of color—and children bear the brunt of those choices, right here at home and abroad.
You don’t have to be a policy expert to know when something is wrong. You must pay attention—and trust yourself enough to speak up.
Take Action Today!

Call your Members of United States Congress and tell them:
- You oppose any invasion or military escalation in Venezuela
- You want diplomacy, peace, and international cooperation
- You are tired of war being prioritized over people
These calls matter. Staff track them. Members notice patterns. Your voice adds weight.
This new year isn’t about waiting quietly to see what happens next. It’s about saying enough—even when we’re tired. Especially when we’re tired.
Sisters, we have always turned frustration into action and pain into power. Let’s start this year by doing what we do best: showing up, speaking out, and demanding better.
In solidarity,
Dr. Stephanie, WE CAN Founder
