Sound the Alarm: The Big Bill is Not Beautiful—It’s Deadly!

Sisters,
I’m sure you’ve heard a lot about the so-called Big Beautiful Bill just passed by the U.S. Senate. I assure you, the bill is anything but beautiful for us, our families, and communities. Like the 59,000 federal workers who lost their jobs since the Trump Administration began, there is no ‘beauty’ in forcing low-income folks deeper into poverty, cutting off medical benefits to the elderly and disabled, and generally making life much more difficult for folks already struggling—and likely failing—to make ends meet.
This sweeping legislation slashes Medicaid, gutting SNAP food assistance, eliminating after-school programs, cutting job training programs, and more. All to give huge tax breaks to rich folks—all by trying to sell the lie that the cuts are necessary to trim government waste and reduce the budget deficit. Please don’t be fooled by the lies you are being told about what would happen if this bill were to become law. Let’s get into the details.

This is THE time to take action or re-engage! Sisters, the STAKES ARE TOO HIGH TO SIT THIS ONE OUT!
Now is the time to reach out to your legislators and remind them that we are here, we vote, and we demand they listen to our voices. As a powerful voting bloc, women of color can greatly influence electoral outcomes, but only if we engage. Please take a few minutes to complete one or all of the actions below TODAY.
The next step in the process of the big, beautiful bill (which should be called the big, brutal blow or bigoted budget bomb) becoming law is for the U.S. House of Representatives to review the U.S. Senate’s version of the bill and attempt to agree on the final bill to send to the president. The president has told lawmakers he wants a bill on his desk before they leave for the July 4th vacation. That means we have a day or two to make them hear our voices!

Hi, my name is (YOUR NAME) from (YOUR CITY), a constituent of Representative (THEIR NAME). I’m calling to urge you to reject the Senate’s budget bill. It will harm women and girls of color in our community by cutting vital programs we rely on. We need a budget that protects—not punishes—us. Thank you for your support and attention!

WE are standing on the edge of a VERY DANGEROUS cliff. If this bill passes, vital programs and services we need to survive will be eliminated. WE CAN stand in the way. But we MUST STAND TOGETHER.
In solidarity,
Stephanie, WE CAN Founder
