Rest Is Strategic, Sisters — Come Take a Beat With Us

Sisters,

I am tired. I’m so tired of waking up every. Single. Day. to find that some more ‘ish’ has happened — designed to make our lives more difficult.

I’ve been doom scrolling way too much, which only makes it worse. The algorithm keeps serving up videos confirming what we already know — the world is deeply troubled right now. I’ve had to snooze a bunch of accounts just to turn down the temperature on my feed and give my brain and heart some relief.

But I can’t turn off my activism — and I don’t think you can either.

A few days ago, I was heading to the grocery store with my 83-year-old mother. As we always do, we got into talking about politics and everything this ‘administration’ and their enablers are doing to this country. I shared with her that I was frustrated — that one political party seems to take our vote for granted, and they need to wake up and start actively working to earn and hold our collective support.

She was shocked. She couldn’t fathom that some Sisters are just fed up, that some of you might sit out the primaries or November altogether — or worse, vote for the other party just to make a point.

I tried to explain that some of you are in the “f around and find out” stage and are willing to risk it all to send a message. And honestly? I get it. I completely understand. Because as I said — I am SICK of all of it.

I’ve written before about the danger of staying home and allowing the darker forces to gain even more power over our lives. And I’ve heard from some of you that you just can’t stomach helping elect people who take you for granted. That tension is real, it’s valid, and it’s exactly why we need each other right now.

Let’s take a beat this week.

Join WE CAN on Thursday, April 2nd, 7:00 – 8:00 pm EDT, for a healing Power Hour. Together, we will lean into our faith with Minister Tiffani Bell, who will walk us through the similarities between the challenging times we are living in and the historical times of our foremothers. She’ll leave us with practical tools for tapping into our personal power source. Dr. Alessandra will also be on hand to show us how to use healing tools, such as restorative yoga, to calm the stress within us and find peace and rest in the midst of chaos.

This healing Power Hour is a time just for us! If you’ve never been to a WE CAN event, I urge you to make this your first. Now more than ever, we need a large, strong community of Sisters to encourage, inspire, and motivate us to keep moving forward–even when we feel like we just can’t go any further.

Invite your girls—anyone you think could benefit from the session.

And while we’re resting and refueling, Congress is on recess, which means Thursday is also about strategy. The U.S. Congress is not returning to work until April 13th, and we need to be ready to GO when they get back.

The U.S. House of Representatives left town after passing a short-term funding bill (after rejecting a U.S. Senate bill that would have paid TSA workers and ended one of the biggest pain points in this partial government shutdown). The U.S. Senate left town with the awful SAVE Act still up in the air. My Congressional contacts are telling me that the Senate is trying hard to pass this terrible bill–one that WILL make it harder for too many Americans to vote. I can’t say enough about how firm we need to be in standing against any effort that makes it harder for eligible voters to exercise their right to vote.

Thursday is about taking a beat NOW to get ready for these two urgent fights—and the ones to come. Thursday is about being intentional to create a life that feeds, heals, and grows us! Thursday is about you, me, and all of us!

I hope to see you on screen!

In solidarity,

Dr. Stephanie
