Mobilize Monday: What You Can Do from Home!
Sisters,
I don’t know about you, but I am mad as hell. I try very hard not to let the daily ‘briefings,’ cable and internet news, and my Facebook timeline get to me, but most days, I lose the fight. The current state of affairs of our country and the piss poor ‘leadership’ of this administration is not worthy of us and our democracy.
We deserve so much more!
We MUST DEMAND more!
Today, as promised, is another opportunity for you to take action from your home about the coronavirus pandemic.
It is no secret that the state-level quarantines are hurting too many of us. Millions have lost their jobs, and the security provided by having money to pay rent, buy food, and manage their lives. However, the public experts are clear that re-opening our society right now could have an even more tragic effect. PEOPLE WILL DIE! Most of them unnecessarily.
There is a tragic history lesson our leaders need to remember to save thousands of lives. The Spanish Flu pandemic of 1912 was calming down, and fewer people were contracting the disease and dying. Some leaders started to ‘smell themselves’ and got ‘too big for their britches’ and lifted quarantines. In fact, in Philadelphia, they had a parade to celebrate the end of World War I. Sadly, that decision proved to be a bad one. More people died in the second wave than in first wave AND more than died in World War I and II combined.
The ‘administration’ is inciting violence and pressuring governors to resume life pre-coronavirus. The second wave of infections is sure to follow, and all our time at home to flatten the curve will be in vain.
So, what can you do?
Take a moment and contact your Governor to tell him/her to resist the bullying of the administration. Make sure your state leader knows that you DEMAND that s/he makes the decision that is best for your state, not for the president’s ego. Send your Governor the following message!
Dear Governor:
As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has taken too many lives across the United States. I want you to know that I want you to make sure residents of our state stay safe. Please do not go back to business as usual until we have adequate testing and contact tracing. I know you want the best for all citizens of our state, and I’m counting on you to make the RIGHT decision FOR THE PEOPLE!
Sincerely,
Precious lives are at stake. Yes, it will continue to hurt some of us more than others to remain home and not earn an income, but we can replace the income, we can’t replace the people.
Please follow the CDC guidelines as much as you can and stay safe-at home!
Sincerely,
Stephanie McGencey, WE CAN President and Founder
