Sisters,

Tonight, the president will address the nation. We can expect an overabundance of lies and a lot of attacks against anyone who has not ‘kissed the ring’ or bent a knee to him. To preserve my sanity, I will not watch the live broadcast, but I will read the transcript and share an analysis of how his plans might impact women of color and our families and communities.

Instead of watching live, I intend to be in community with others who share my concerns that our nation is barreling toward an autocratic system of government that will limit our freedom and take away rights such as voting and free speech that are fundamental to a healthy democracy.

WE CAN will tune in to State of the People, streaming live all day before and after the speech. I’ve been inspired by the content being streamed live and think you will find it a good use of your time today!
